You can book an appointment at the London Gastroenterology Centre over the phone. If you prefer, you can send us an email instead and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We should be able to arrange an appointment for a convenient time at our main clinic in central London or at one of our other locations around the city.

Most patients come to us after getting a referral from their GP, but you can arrange an appointment directly if necessary. Make sure that you bring your referral letter, health insurance details, and copies of any relevant test results if you have them.

If you need to cancel an appointment, please try to let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment time to other patients. You may have to be charged if you give less than one day’s notice of a cancellation.

    Useful information

    Driving and parking

We are located in Welbeck Street which is inside the London congestion charging zone. If you drive through the zone between the hours of 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, you will be charged unless you have an electric vehicle. The charge does not apply on public holidays.

There is limited meter parking in the area. You may therefore prefer to come by public transport.

    By tube

If you are coming on the underground, we are a six minute walk from Oxford Circus and Bond Street tube stations.

    What to bring

When you come for your appointment remember to get the following:

    • Referral letter from your GP, family physician or other doctor.
    • Your insurance information including name of insurance company, membership number and pre-authorisation number if available.
    • Copies of medical records, blood results, endoscopy, MRI, CT scans, histology and so on from previous doctor visits.
    • If you have had surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report.

Very often during the course of your evaluation or treatment for your condition your doctor will need to do tests to determine the cause of a problem or to evaluate your progress. If not all the relevant information is available at the time of your appointment this may cause a delay in your treatment. In addition it may be necessary to repeat a study to complete your evaluation.

Please dress so that it is easy to examine your chest and abdomen. Loose fitting clothes, and for women, a separate top and bottom are advisable.

It is also a good idea to bring someone with you to the appointment. They can remind you of things you might forget to tell the doctor. They can also listen to the suggestions the doctor gives. It is quite usual not to remember everything, particularly if you are not feeling well. Another pair of ears can be very useful!

    Cancellations

    To cancel an appointment:
Telephone the office during business hours. Please cancel at least 2 days ahead so that your appointment time can be allocated to another patient who is seeking treatment. We reserve the right to charge for appointments that are not cancelled in good time. We understand that problems can occur and sometimes people have to cancel at short notice. We will try to be sensitive to your needs and in emergency situations, we will often waive the fee for the late cancellation.

    Our promise
Your time is valuable and we make every effort to run on time. We promise to see 80% of patients within 10 minutes of the appointment time offered.

As you can imagine, emergencies occur that cause scheduling delays beyond our control. We apologise in advance if we keep you waiting.

We are available to see patients daily.
